Geology does… lots. Everywhere.

It plays a part in Scotland’s culture, landscape, tourism, biodiversity, history, sense of place, weather & climate, resources, energy mix, infrastructure, food & drink, built heritage, learning, carbon capture…

The ‘Geology does’ campaign celebrates the contribution geology makes to Scotland. It’s the country’s bedrock; it tells Scotland’s story; it resources our future.

The Scottish Geology Trust is working to inspire people everywhere to understand, love and care for Scotland’s geological heritage. Join us!

Get involved

The Geology does campaign is being run by the Scottish Geology Trust to promote its aim of inspiring people everywhere to understand, love and care for Scotland’s geological heritage.

Involvement of diverse partners is valued! We are keen to work with organisations and individuals. Current supporters include NatureScot, British Geological Survey, Historic Environment Scotland, GeoBus, local Geological Societies and Scotland’s Landscape Alliance.

We anticipate wider participation to promote the themes of the campaign, to explore the relevance of geology, and to take it beyond its initial burst of activity.

Resources are freely available for appropriate reuse.

How can partners help?

1. Take a look at the various campaign themes

2. Share any or all of them
– repost on social media
– quote/retweet with added examples
– encourage members/others to engage

3. Link these themes with your own work
