Our Mission: connecting people and geology
Inspiring people everywhere to understand, love and care for Scotland’s incredible geological heritage and its role in creating a sustainable future.
Why? We believe geology is important to Scotland. It shapes our landscape and culture, and has been an important source of energy and resources. But geology is not just in the past, it is important for the present and future too. Understanding of geology is essential to address current global challenges and create a sustainable future for all.
Our Aims are to:
Engage people in Scotland’s geology
Scotland’s geoheritage is truly remarkable. We’re here to work with communities to promote their local geological sites and help conserve them, for all to discover and enjoy.
Work collaboratively with others for better recognition of the importance of geology
The Trust’s collective voice will promote the importance of Scotland’s geology to society, raising awareness of the impact of geology and geological processes in the availability of resources, sustainability, biodiversity and future generations.
