Scottish Geology Festival – 1 September to 17 October, 2021

The Scottish Geology Trust will host the Scottish Geology Festival this autumn to encourage activity, events and engagement about Scotland’s incredible geological heritage. There will be fantastic opportunities for all to get involved, including families, local people and visitors. Our first festival in 2020 was a great success, despite restrictions due to the pandemic, with over 50 events organised by Geobus, Scotland’s geoparks, the Edinburgh and Glasgow geological societies and others.

This year, the Scottish Geology Festival will run from Wednesday 1st September to Sunday 17th October 2021 with over 50 events. A range of exciting events and activities will be hosted across the country and online for all levels of those interested in geology and everyone who would like to learn more about Scotland’s geology.

As part of Scotland’s Year of Coasts and Waters, and with support from EventScotland, the Trust will also be hosting and supporting a number of beach pebble events for families and those interested in learning about Scottish beaches, pebbles and the history behind their making. A full list of events will be launched from Tuesday 17th August online.

Scotland’s geological heritage has attracted international interest for centuries and with renown sites on our doorstep and the Trust is looking forward to another year of celebrating this history. All are invited to explore these incredible places and take part in the Festival’s events.

For specific event updates or questions, please contact the event organiser directly. Event organisers are solely responsible for the events and the Scottish Geology Trust only promotes and advertises these events. For Festival queries, please email project.manager@scottishgeologytrust.org.
