Explore the coastal rocks of Glasgow and get hands-on with this mindful rock felting activity, where we’ll create cozy woollen stones.

We’ll meet at Rouken Glen Park, where we’ll explore some of the local rocks that we find.

While the event is part of the Scottish Geology Festival, you don’t need to a rock expert, it’s more about getting outdoors, learning a new skill, and appreciating the beauty of the world around us.

Participants will be invited to take a deeper look at a specific stone and really get to know them. In keeping with the theme of this year’s Scottish Geology Festival – 300 Years of Deep Time – we’ll think about what we can learn from these rocks. We’ll then learn the technique of wet felting, and set to work creating beautiful felted stones from our finds. Find full details by clicking through to the booking links.

This event is suitable for all ages, although younger children may need to be supported by their adult. It’s also great for adults wanting to learn a new skill and connect with rocks in a new way.

We will be walking short distances, but over rocky and uneven ground, and sitting on the ground during the activity. The felt-making involves lots of movement of the hands, and may involve bending down.
