Join us as we delve into fascinating, wild and ancient stories about rocks within Jewish and other traditions, everybody welcome!
Giant mythical worms for cutting through hard stone to build an ancient Temple? Elaborate gemstone layouts for interpreting divine judgement? Stone pillows? Rocks infected with leprosy? Ancient Jewish texts are full of stories, laws and fascinating insights into the way that rocks have been held in religious and cultural traditions.
This event is open to all, regardless of your faith or cultural background. We will be exploring stories from traditional Jewish texts that focus on rocks, and using these as a way to reflect on our own cultural associations with stone. The learning will be presented in English, in a way that can be accessed regardless of previous knowledge of Jewish tradition, other cultural references, or even of geology. All are welcome, and we welcome your participation and sharing in this respectful space.
