In early 2024, Dingwall Museum undertook an assessment and rationalisation of their collections and uncovered a series of fossils that came from the North and East coasts of the Black Isle. Being out with the museum’s location jurisdiction, they kindly offered to donate these amazing objects to Hugh Miller’s Birthplace Museum!
For this year’s Scottish Geology Festival, be among the first to see this wonderful new collection of twenty-four fossils at Hugh Miller’s Birthplace Cottage – accompanied by a temporary exhibition covering how the National Trust for Scotland acquires objects for our proeprties and how we care for the over 300,000 objects in our collections across Scotland!
