🌍✨ Girls into Geoscience: Scotland 2026 – Registration NOW OPEN! ✨🌋
We’re thrilled to announce that Girls into Geoscience: Scotland 2026 is officially open for registration! This year’s event will take place on Friday the 19th June from 9am – 3pm, on the University of Glasgow’s main campus.
Geoscience is for everyone. It brings together geography, biology, physics, chemistry, computing, creativity and problem‑solving to explore our planet (and beyond!). This exciting, one-day free annual event aims to introduce S5-S6/A-level students to the geosciences, if you’re curious about Earth, space, data, fossils, volcanoes or science that really matters, this event is for you!
🎤 Inspiring speakers This year’s programme features an outstanding line‑up, including:
- Dr Anna Hicks – volcanologist at the British Geological Survey
- Dr Lydia Hallis – Martian scientist and planetary expert from the University of Glasgow
🧪 Hands‑on workshops Students will choose two workshops from four exciting options:
- 🪨Dating Rocks – uncovering Earth’s deep past
- ☄️Fun with Meteorites – rocks from space!
- 💻Computational Geoscience – using data and code to study the Earth
- 🦴Ecosystems of the Past – fun with fossils!
💰 Travel bursaries available
✨Teachers, school groups and independent participants are all welcome
💬 We consistently receive fantastic feedback from students and teachers alike – but places are limited, so early registration is strongly encouraged!
