Guided Walk: Arthurs Seat with BGS

Join the British Geological Survey (BGS) for a guided 2-hour walk around Arthur’s Seat, Edinburgh’s iconic extinct volcano.

Led by BGS geologists, this walk explores the fascinating volcanic and glacial history of the area, including lava flows, dolerite intrusions, and evidence of Ice Age activity.

Along the route, participants will gain insights into how the landscape was formed and shaped over millions of years, with stops at key geological features and viewpoints.

Suitable for most fitness levels, will include uphill mostly on paths. The walk combines science, scenery, and storytelling in one of Scotland’s most dramatic natural settings.

Participants should be over 9 years old, under 16s must be supervised by an adult at all times.

Meet at the Holyrood Park car park on Queens Drive.
