Join me @scottishgeologist for an engaging two-hour workshop exploring the fascinating world of rocks and minerals.
Through interactive activities, stunning real-world samples and plenty of hands on samples you’ll learn:
- How different igneous rocks form and in what types of plate tectonic settings
- How the earth formed and the structure of the Earth
- Plate tectonics
- Different types of volcanism
- The volcanic rocks of Scotland
- How to identify different minerals that form in volcanic rocks
- Tips and tricks for recognising textures, patterns, and crystal forms.
- The geological stories that rocks can tell us about Earth’s history.
Whether you’re a curious beginner, a budding rockhound, or just looking for a deeper appreciation of the ground beneath your feet, this session will leave you seeing the landscape in a whole new way.
