Winter lecture programmes

1 October 2022 - 30 April 2023

All of Scotland’s geological societies, and the Northwest Highlands UNESCO Global Geopark, offer winter programmes of lectures. These are usually open to non-members, with a mix of in-person and online events, often recorded for later viewing. Something for everyone, wherever you are! Follow the links below to find out more …

Edinburgh Geological Society programme of illustrated lectures runs from October to Easter, on Wednesday evenings. These meetings are open to the public, there is no charge, and visitors are most welcome. Lectures take place in-person in the Grant Institute, School of GeoSciences at the University of Edinburgh and are also usually broadcast on zoom.

Geological Society of Glasgow programme runs from October to April, usually in the Boyd Orr Building of the University of Glasgow. The society aims to make a quality recording of each lecture but in order to maximise in-person attendence and minimise the technology issues, they do not offer a live video link to the lectures. Visitors are welcome to attend. You will be made most welcome and at the social session following the lecture you can talk to the lecturer and meet society members.
