Stonehaven Beach Pebbles

9 October @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

- Free

Come along to Stonehaven for this wheelchair-accessible beach pebble event, where geologists will be on hand to help you learn about the exciting stories that beach pebbles can tell us. Can you find evidence of a violent volcanic eruption? What about pebbles that started off as river sediment but were heated up and squashed so much they turned into something else? Will you be able to find a “reincarnated” pebble that was first a pebble over 400 million years ago?

Weather permitting, we will have a stand close to the seating area by the boardwalk. Stop by for a chat, or bring us your favourite pebble to discuss. In the event of bad weather, the stand will be moved inside the Tolbooth Museum and the event will start later, at 12:30.

Remember to check out Scottish Geology Trust’s Beach Pebble Guide.
