Speaker: Dr Rachel Wignall, NatureScot
No one interested in geology or geomorphology likes to see a geosite damaged or deteriorating in condition. Can you help keep an eye Scotland’s geosites and assist in directing preventative and remedial actions where they are needed? NatureScot runs a condition monitoring programme for Earth science features in Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), reporting against government targets for SSSI features in Favourable condition. However, with stretched resources, full assessments may be many years apart, and briefer Site Checks may also not occur as often as we would like. Can you help increase Site Check records by recording what you see at geosites? This talk will cover the basic information that NatureScot needs in order to assess where preventative or remedial action on geosites is required.
Over the next couple of months we will hold a new series of online Member’s Seminars. These are free to our members, and £3 to non-members.
