A shoreline and moorland walk, with Cuil Bay Slates, Appin Phyllite and Limestone (with limekiln), and Transition Beds, intruded by diorites and volcanic pipes, ending at the Appin Limestone ‘Tiger Rock’ exposure, beach shingle permitting. Meet at Cuil Bay, Duror, 10.00, returning about 4pm. Walked distance about 6 kilometres, on rough coastal paths and moorland. £40 per person.
All excursions require walking boots or similar, waterproofs, packed lunch. Cameras and binoculars recommended.
These eight excursions are a sample of the Geotours being run by Lochaber Geopark this autumn. Other Geotours are also available. Geotours during the Scottish geology Festival are individually priced, per person per day, with a half-price rate for ‘Friends of Lochaber Geopark’ members (£30 pa single membership).
