By car, with a series of stops from Ardgour to Lochaline. Moine metasediments, Strontian Granite, dykes, Moine/Triassic(?) unconformity, Jurassic sediments, Lochaline quartz sand, finishing with a beach Jurassic fossil hunt. An optional hill walk up to Tennyson’s Waterfall, over Mull Plateau Basalts, can be included. Meet at Corran Ferry 09.30, returning about 6.00pm. £50 per person.
All excursions require walking boots or similar, waterproofs, packed lunch. Cameras and binoculars recommended.
These eight excursions are a sample of the Geotours being run by Lochaber Geopark this autumn. Other Geotours are also available. Geotours during the Scottish geology Festival are individually priced, per person per day, with a half-price rate for ‘Friends of Lochaber Geopark’ members (£30 pa single membership).
