Join Alison and Barry Tymon for a short walk of less than 1km from Pettico Wick to St Abb’s Head lighthouse, to look at the rocks and coastal landscapes of the north end of St Abb’s Head, which include folded greywackes, volcanic lavas and a major tectonic fault! A leaflet explaining the geology of St Abb’s Head will be available.

The nearest parking is at the National Trust for Scotland car park at Northfield, where there is a visitor centre and café, signposted from the B6438 half a kilometre before reaching St Abbs village. The 2km walk along the quiet lane to Pettico Wick takes 30-45 minutes. Pettico Wick can also be reached along footpaths from St Abbs village, where there are car parks and other facilities. There are limited car parking spaces available at Pettico Wick, for disabled users only.
The walk will finish at the lighthouse, where there are superb views of the rocks and cliffs, and you can enjoy a pleasant walk back to St Abbs over the headland or along the lane to Northfield. Please wear sensible footwear for walking on steep slopes and bring some refreshments with you. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
